Homeschooling Grade 3 and 4 during Pandemic

Here's a new page, just for you! laugh

Starting this blog to document our journey on homeschooling during pandemic.

I'm a 46-year old mom. I used to be a journalist for 25 years and I've been an instructor in a prestigious university in the Philippines. My kids are a 10-year old girl and a 8-year old boy.

Two months from the onset of a pandemic, I hosted a virtual talk show called "Usapang CQ or Community Quarantine" and one of my topics is about education during pandemic.

My guests are two friends who are knowledgeable on education -- a public affairs official from the Department of Education and then a CEO of a company which pioneered the distance education in the Philippines.

During that one hour meeting, I realized that no matter how good the school was, no one was more prepared for distance learning as no one -- even fortunetellers -- was able to predict the COVID-19 pandemic.

So among the methods being thought of -- modular, synchronous, asynchronous, homeschooling, unschooling -- I chose homeschooling because I knew my kids are still young and regardless if the teachers teach them online, I will still end up repeating the lessons anyway.

And among the homeschooling providers, I chose Catholic Filipino Academy because I wanted still to inculcate spirituality to my children -- which I feel we badly need now during pandemic.

So join me as I blog this journey. Hopefully hindi ako tamarin in the future.

May God bless us all.
